Who is Basil Imran?
My name is Basil Imran, a half Software Engineer based in Pakistan. I'm 21 years old and started in the online world back when I was only 5 years old — all thanks to my mom, who cared enough to get me a computer.
Later, when I turned 14, I already had an interest in blogging and marketing. I wanted to pursue internet sites and make money.
Then I started my first site, which was in the food niche (it didn’t do very well, but made some dollars), and it eventually got closed. Then I created my second website in 2021 — an affiliate site in the drones niche — which made me good money, but not enough.
After that, my interest in the online world increased by 1000x (what can you expect from a 17-year-old?), and then I became an enthusiast in e-commerce and high-ticket dropshipping. As I already knew how to create websites, I started my Fiverr profile and scaled that to a Level 2 Seller’s Profile, close to becoming a Top-Rated Seller, which is to this day still active and now part of my identity.

Then I expanded further and started reading books, as I somehow found out that rich people read books — and I wanted to become one too. I started reading books like DotCom Secrets, Elon Musk, The Psychology of Money, Start with Why, and many more.
One thing I forgot to mention: my interest in computers and hardware was so big from the beginning that sometimes my dad would call me mad. For example, I once tried to extract the processor from my old computer and insert it into my new one — to see if I could install two processors in it (because I didn’t want to waste the old one 😅). Same with the RAM and other components — I spent hours in the hot summer just trying to figure out how to build a supercomputer somehow.
Another memory I want to share: one Sunday afternoon, my mom told me to throw away a rechargeable fan because it didn’t work anymore. You won’t believe — and I still don’t believe — what my small mind told me to do. I broke it into pieces, removed the fan and its motor carefully, and started trying to attach it to the back of my bicycle in a way that could give me a push so I wouldn’t have to pedal. Of course, it didn’t work — the motor needed power and wasn’t on a battery, and I was trying to tape it with regular tape. How funny is that?
But now I can explain why I was made like that and why I did all those things (and still do): the only answer is that I used to watch the Discovery Channel. Shows like Factory Made and Aircraft Crash Investigation — I loved those and watched them day in and day out.
To talk about today, I’m a Fiverr freelancer and a good ICT trader (because I want to have fun and explore that too). Meanwhile, while doing all this, I was also pursuing my academic education. But by the 4th semester in university, I decided to leave — because it was boring and not practical for me.
That’s when I decided to pursue the Google Cybersecurity Program. And what I believe I can do in this field is just humongous. I'm already an enthusiast. I know how to code. I have a CISO certification in C++ and hands-on experience with other languages.
What I want to do in this field isn’t just securing organisations and people — but building systems and cracking what illegal minds want to do — so we’re always two steps ahead of them.
Cybersecurity isn’t just a fascination for me — it’s a madness to a whole new level. Because now I’m finally doing what I love, not just what I saw or what my parents told me to do.
